Deployment of a Plug-In Multi-Agent System for Traffic Signal Timing
Abstract
In this paper we discuss the deployment of DALI, a multiagent traffic signal timing system. Intersection controllers are augmented with agents which communicate with one another through direct links. The agents collaboratively adapt signal timings by considering the feedback of all agents affected by a change. DALI was deployed in the City of Richardson's Waterview Parkway corridor at three major intersections. The data collected for a three week period shows that on average, DALI reduced delay by 40.12%.
